Job description

Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to provide senior‑level technical expertise for power distribution systems supporting critical infrastructure. This role focuses on high‑voltage equipment, power system design, system analysis, commissioning, and compliance with industry standards. The engineer will lead portions of projects, collaborate across disciplines, and support both new construction and upgrades to existing facilities.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys complex technical challenges, field involvement, and delivering safe, reliable electrical systems for large‑scale operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.
  • Review and support arc‑flash studies, fault analysis, and protective device coordination.
  • Promote safety, reliability, and continuous improvement across all electrical engineering activities.
  • Develop one‑line diagrams, electrical schematics, system layouts, and perform load calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, and other applicable electrical design codes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams throughout Pre‑FEED, FEED, and EPC phases.
  • Review contractor engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry codes.
  • Support procurement activities, including vendor evaluation and technical review of electrical equipment packages.
  • Evaluate and specify high‑voltage equipment including transformers, switchgear, generators, and related components.
  • Participate in commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to design requirements.
  • Design, implement, and optimize electrical power distribution systems for pipeline, compressor station, storage, or similar industrial facilities.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems.
  • Understanding of grid integration and renewable energy systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience reviewing contractor drawings and electrical deliverables.
  • Familiarity with construction environments and field engineering practices.
  • High‑voltage equipment expertise (transformers, switchgear, generators)
  • Experience participating in commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of high‑voltage equipment including transformers, switchgear, and generators.
  • Experience supporting procurement processes and vendor sourcing for electrical equipment.
  • Ability to review contractor engineering drawings and ensure compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Power system design & analysis (one‑lines, load calculations, protection coordination, arc‑flash, fault studies)
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in power systems, high‑voltage equipment, or critical infrastructure.
  • Hands‑on experience with power system design, analysis, and simulation tools such as ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, or Simulink.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology (ABET) + active Professional Engineer (PE) license + 4 years relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Pre‑FEED, FEED, or EPC project environments.
  • Exposure to automation or monitoring technologies (not controls‑focused)
  • Experience supporting procurement and vendor coordination for electrical equipment packages.
