Scope of Position Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, building and bridge parts. Welding fabricated components per American Welding Society and American Institute of Steel Construction requirements. Job Responsibilities Sets up welding equipment for process as required by welding procedure Certified by American Welding Society (AWS) standards for 3G-4G positions Assist Fitter with assembly of fabricated members Uses cutting torch and heating torch to achieve minimum preheat temperatures in base metal and copes beams, as needed Operate mag drills and grinders Operate overhead cranes to position materials for welding Use carbon air arc to back gouge full penetration weld joints Travel as required Other duties which may be assigned as needed Education & Years of Experience Four years of experience and appropriate welding certifications for type of welds to be performed. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
