Job description
Arise Homes is a new home builder and developer dedicated to quality, affordable homes. Join a dynamic and customer-focused team dedicated to helping families find their dream home. The Permit Technician/Draftsman supports our land development, single family, and multi-family programs by producing accurate design and site drawings and coordinating permitting with jurisdictions, engineers, surveyors, energy rating companies and local utilities from submittal through issuance -- combining hands-on Revit drafting with the follow-through needed to keep permits (and schedules) moving.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Create and maintain relationships with cities and counties for effective communication.
- Prepare plot plans, site plans, and lot-specific drawings (setbacks, grading references, utility locations) using AutoCAD, coordinating with land development and civil engineering drawings
- Update and maintain Revit family libraries, templates, and standard details across Arise’s home plan portfolio.
- Assemble and submit permit applications (building, utility) to city/county building departments for single-family lots and multi-family projects.
- Perform preliminary zoning and code checks (setbacks, lot coverage, height limits, easements) before submittal to catch issues early.
- Maintain a permit tracking log/database showing submittal dates, review status feed, and issuance for all active lots and phases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in drafting, architectural design, construction management or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in residential drafting/design, homebuilding, or permit coordination; experience with production or semi-custom home building is preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in Revit required.
- Working knowledge of residential building codes (IRC) and local zoning/subdivision requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans, surveys, plats , and geotechnical/grading plans.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track permit status across many lots/jurisdictions at once.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in drawings, calculations, and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction management or permit tracking software a plus.
- The ability to interact with a variety of individuals and build relationships.
- Self-motivated, positive, and open to professional growth within the team.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Permit Technician/Draftsman reports to the Operations Manager.
JOB HOURS
This is a full-time position between the hours of 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday.
