In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Skilled HVAC Worker
The Skilled HVAC Worker is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across the mining site. This role ensures optimal climate control and air quality in operational facilities, accommodation camps, control rooms, and critical infrastructure, supporting the safety, comfort, and efficiency of mining operations in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioners, chillers, ventilation units, and refrigeration systems.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and prolong system lifespan.
- Diagnose system faults and perform necessary repairs promptly to minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper ventilation systems are functioning effectively in both industrial and residential site areas.
- Monitor system performance and energy efficiency; recommend upgrades or modifications where necessary.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, especially in high-risk mining environments.
- Perform refrigerant handling, leak detection, and system recharging in accordance with industry standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and HVAC system diagrams.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and equipment documentation.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams, engineers, and site management for coordinated operations.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide timely corrective actions.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- Technical certificate or diploma in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience as an HVAC technician, preferably in industrial, mining, or remote site environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, control systems, and refrigeration cycles.
- Certification in refrigerant handling (e.g., EPA or equivalent recognized certification).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC systems and perform repairs independently.
- Familiarity with mining site infrastructure and camp facilities is an asset.
- Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency in preventive maintenance systems and reporting tools
- Excellent safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
- Good teamwork, communication, and ability to work under pressure.
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Adaptability to varying weather conditions and operational challenges in a mining setting.
