Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, and financial success of a KOMAN subsidiary specializing in construction. This key position provides oversight of all business operations, including project execution, business development, finance, human resources, safety, and administrative functions. The General Manager is accountable for driving sustainable growth, maximizing operational efficiency, and ensuring the subsidiary consistently delivers high-quality construction services to federal, Department of Defense (DoD), and commercial clients.
The General Manager serves as a key leader within the organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with corporate policies, contractual obligations, and industry standards.
Essential Functions
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all subsidiary operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and long-term business goals.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of business operations, including construction management, financial performance, staffing, and administrative functions.
- Develop and execute strategic business plans that support revenue growth, operational excellence, and market expansion.
- Lead business development initiatives by cultivating new client relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and expanding the subsidiary's presence within the federal construction marketplace.
- Establish annual operating budgets, financial forecasts, and resource allocation plans while maintaining accountability for profitability and fiscal performance.
- Ensure successful execution of construction projects by monitoring schedules, budgets, quality standards, safety performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing employees while promoting a culture of leadership, accountability, and professional development.
- Collaborate with corporate leadership and shared service departments, including Human Resources, Finance, Contracts, and Procurement, to support organizational objectives.
- Implement and enforce company policies, operational procedures, and performance standards across the subsidiary.
- Evaluate organizational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, contractual, and company regulations, policies, and ethical standards.
- Represent the company professionally with customers, government agencies, subcontractors, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Master's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, or senior executive within a general contracting or construction organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing vertical construction operations, preferably supporting federal and Department of Defense (DoD) construction projects.
- Proven success leading business operations with full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of federal contracting, military construction, and government procurement processes.
- Experience developing business strategy and driving organizational growth through successful business development efforts.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities with a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and resource planning.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of construction project management principles, contract administration, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and standard business software applications.
- Ability to travel as required to support project operations, business development activities, and corporate initiatives.
