Job description
You'll be joining our Enterprise Systems Engineering team as a Senior Technical Lead for Enterprise Analytics Platforms, with end-to-end accountability for our SAS estate and input to the strategic direction of analytics tooling across the organisation.
Our platforms underpin critical regulatory, risk, finance, and decisioning workloads across the bank. We are evolving from traditional SAS Grid environments into a modern, multi-platform analytics landscape, integrating SAS with cloud-native services, data platforms, and emerging tooling.
Our vision is to build high-performing, product-aligned platform teams that own their services end-to-end - from infrastructure and integrations through to performance, resilience, and user experience. You'll play a key role in shaping this transformation and influencing how analytics is delivered across the business.
What you'll be doing
Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for our SAS platforms and supporting infrastructure Lead the modernisation and optimisation of enterprise analytics capabilities, aligning platform strategy with business priorities and regulatory requirements Manage a team of platform engineers and specialists, supporting their development and building deep expertise across SAS, data engineering, and platform operations Own key vendor relationships (e.g. SAS and supporting partners), influencing roadmap decisions and ensuring value is delivered from platform investment Work hands-on where needed across platform design, troubleshooting, automation, and integration, particularly around performance, batch scheduling, and resilience
We need you to have
A degree level qualification in computer science or similar discipline Strong (10+ years) experience managing and operating enterprise analytics platforms (SAS, grid computing, or similar) Deep technical background across: Linux (RHEL or similar) Distributed/grid computing environments Batch processing and scheduling (e.g. LSF or equivalent) Data platforms and integration tooling Proven experience leading technical teams in complex enterprise environments
It's a bonus if you have but not essential
Experience with SAS Viya migration, or alternative analytics platforms (e.g. SLC, Databricks, Python ecosystems) Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and hybrid architecture design Knowledge of financial services regulatory workloads
