Senior Accountant
Job description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to manage the company's day-to-day accounting operations in Dubai. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with a strong command of accounting principles, month-end and year-end closing, and UAE VAT compliance. Knowledge of SAP is preferred. The candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy and support management with accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including aging review and follow-up on collections
Prepare and review invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and expense reports
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor and forecast cash flow
Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and general ledger reconciliations
Prepare financial statements and management reports (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow)
Prepare and file UAE VAT returns and maintain FTA-compliant documentation
Coordinate with external auditors and maintain proper filing and documentation for audits and compliance
Contribute to strengthening internal controls, policies, and procedures
Support budgeting and forecasting activities as required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
SAP knowledge or hands-on experience is an advantage
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; proficiency in Word and Outlook
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills
Professional qualification CA or similar completed or in progress
Experience working in the UAE
Strong knowledge of UAE VAT regulations, documentation, and compliance
Good communication skills in English
