Job Title – Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, and compliance activities. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting strategic financial planning, maintaining regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to support business decision-making within a dynamic real estate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & General Ledger Management

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure timely recording of financial transactions.

• Review accounting entries prepared by junior finance team members.

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

• Analyze financial performance, revenue, expenses, and profitability.

• Conduct variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.

• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Management

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely processing.

• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and banking transactions.

• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor liquidity requirements.

• Ensure accurate reconciliation of customer, vendor, and intercompany accounts.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

• Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets.

• Support financial modeling and cost analysis for business initiatives.

• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and statutory reporting requirements.

• Prepare and review VAT returns and supporting documentation.

• Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits.

• Maintain compliance with corporate governance, financial regulations, and internal controls.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Strengthen accounting processes and financial control procedures.

• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.

• Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of financial records.

• Support ERP implementation and finance system enhancements where required.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

• Provide guidance and support to junior accountants and finance staff.

• Coordinate with finance, sales, operations, and project teams on financial matters.

• Assist the Finance Manager in achieving departmental objectives.

• Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.

• 6–10 years of experience in accounting or finance, including experience in a senior accounting role.

• Experience within real estate development, property management, construction, or related industries is highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT regulations, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
