Job description

A specialist Orthopaedic practice in Pretoria is seeking to recruit an experienced Medical Receptionist. The successful candidate will be organised, professional, and patient-focused, with the ability to provide exceptional administrative support and ensure a seamless patient experience within a busy specialist practice.

Roles and Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner
  • Manage the reception area and ensure it remains neat and organised
  • Answer and respond to phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries professionally
  • Manage appointment scheduling and diary coordination
  • Prepare and maintain patient records and documentation
  • Capture patient information accurately on the practice management system
  • Email scripts, sick notes, and other patient documentation as required
  • Coordinate and manage theatre lists and surgical bookings
  • Liaise with the outsourced billing bureau regarding account and billing-related matters
  • Assist with billing, invoicing, and collection of consultation fees
  • Manage practice supplies and stationery
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with practice policies
  • Assist the doctor with general administrative and practice-related duties
  • Utilise MedicAI and other practice systems as part of daily workflow

Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a medical receptionist position
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical aid and medical terminology
  • Experience working with an outsourced billing bureau advantageous
  • Experience with medical software systems advantageous
  • Exposure to MedicAI or similar digital healthcare platforms advantageous
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
