Consultant – Business Development & Marketing
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Consultant – Business Development & Marketing to join our Business Development in Melbourne or Sydney.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This role delivers a broad range of marketing and business development activities for designated practice and sector groups. Working in partnership with the Business Development Manager, the Consultant contributes to the development and execution of strategic business development and marketing initiatives, supporting client growth, market positioning, profile-raising and engagement activities. The role also collaborates with the Director of Business Development and Marketing on firm-wide projects, strategic initiatives and priority business development opportunities as required.
Business Development
- Work with a range of sector and practice groups to develop and implement a clear and strategic business plan and identify business development opportunities with existing clients and prospects.
- Support the BD Manager as a key point of contact for allocated practice and sector groups. Provide operational support to implement business development (BD) plans; including campaign development and management, writing of marketing material, event management and marketing communications.
- Support the delivery of marketing and BD plans and budgets, helping to keep practice and sector groups accountable to agreed activities and timelines.
- Maintain and update the firm’s CRM system, ensuring data accuracy to support marketing and BD plans for the teams being supported.
- Work closely with the BD Manager and allocated practice and sector groups on key client management planning.
Tenders & Bids
- Support the BD manager in project managing bids; including tactical requirements including assisting with profiles, collating and drafting experience content and strategy discussions.
- Manage the development of tenders and capability statements relevant to allocated practice and sector groups.
Marketing
Delivering marketing and communications related activities including:
- Update and maintain the firm website design and content relating to the practice and sector groups.
- Produce and publish social media content to support sector and practice communications.
- Drafting awards submissions for teams and individuals to build the profile and reputation in important sectors and service areas.
- Produce engaging communications pieces, including campaigns and content for our external audiences, including driving external marketing activities that advance our industry voice, build brand and reputation.
- Deliver engaging marketing collateral that communicates our value proposition and represents the firm’s brand.
- Write, edit, design and distribute various materials, including media releases and news stories.
Business Development Operations
- Maintain and oversee the Client Relationship management (CRM) database.
- Liaise with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Contributing to reporting and insights for management.
- Support and coordination of sponsorship activities.
- General administrative support and assistance as required.
Cyber and Information Security
- Maintain cyber security at all times by cultivating awareness of security risks, staying informed of emerging cyber threats, applying cybersecurity best practices and taking practical steps to protect the firm and its clients from cyberattacks. Russell Kennedy is ISO27001 accredited, and maintaining this accreditation is essential.
Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of contemporary marketing trends and practices.
- Experience in practice development, capability statements, campaign management and proposal / tenders.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Outstanding client service delivery skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and work demands.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Advanced IT proficiency, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, with experience in CRM systems, EDM platforms, website content management and marketing tools such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Experience
- Minimum 4 years post qualification business development / marketing or related experience.
- Experience working in a professional services environment.
