Job description

The position is placed in the business area Markets, which cover market activities across the Nordics, Europe, South America and USA. Markets’s major activities include energy management for Statkraft’s asset fleet, analysis, trading and origination.

The Regulatory Affairs Unit is responsible for following up development related to energy market design and regulations in the Nordics and Europe. Our scope is primarily the power markets, including EU- policies and specific national regulations. While our ambition is always to proactively know and understand regulatory development working within the team, across regulatory resources in Statkraft and via membership organisations, we also have high ambitions on influencing regulatory development, especially in the Nordics.

Given the ongoing energy transition and the current energy crisis, there is an urgent need to positively contribute to the development of the framework for the energy markets, both in short- and long-term. As a result, we wish to strengthen our team in order to monitor, analyse and influence proposed regulatory changes relevant for Statkraft’s core activities.

As a Senior Advisor you will be part of a highly competent team and work closely with the relevant business and corporate functions within Statkraft. A key part of the role is to coordinate and develop internal views and also to promote Statkraft’s views externally.

As a Senior Advisor, you will:

  • Work with relevant regulations within areas such as market design, renewable energy, green engery certificate systems (incl GoOs), system operations and grid and grid tariffs.
  • Work towards relevant stakeholders, such as industry organisations in Norway and the EU, Statnett and other TSOs, energy authorities such as NVE-RME, ACER and other energy agencies.
  • Develop and anchor Statkraft’s positions on key matters for the business area together with the operational and corporate units.
  • Get a solid understanding of Statkraft’s core business and build a wide internal and external network.
  • Work on tasks according to the needs of the unit, as well as your personal preferences and competencies.

We look for an experienced Senior Advisor Regulatory Affairs with:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, economics, law or equivalent.
  • Relevant market design/regulatory experience, preferably from the energy sector, including industry associations and government agencies such as energy authorities (ministry, regulators, market surveillance functions), system operations and grid tariffs at transmission system operators
  • Deep and demonstrated understanding of the Nordic and/or European power markets and its regulations – for this recruitment understanding of physical Nordic markets and its regulations will be a pre.
  • Strong team-player with good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to create relations internally and externally
  • Strong cooperation skills
  • Ability to see the big picture, but also deep dive into specifics when needed
  • Structured and self-driven, ability to run projects is beneficial
  • Good command of Norwegian and English, both verbally and written. We are primarily looking for a person to cover Nordic market regulatory topics for this position; however, we might consider highly experienced non-Norwegian speaking applicants in a role to follow up non-Nordic topics as well.

At Statkraft, you’ll shape a career that is truly forward-facing with many amazing opportunities and offerings to match. This includes (non-exclusive):

  • Strong professional development opportunities within a leading European energy market organization
  • A collaborative, international and high-performing environment
  • Competitive compensation and benefit schemes
  • Flexible working environment and work-life balance principles

Our vision is to renew the way the world is powered. To navigate the complex journey ahead, we need every voice at the table. We therefore work actively to be a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome all applicants regardless of background, gender, age, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnicity, nationality or disability.

Statkraft offers competitive terms of employment and benefits schemes, and we’re a trusted employer that puts the safety of our people first. We believe that a safe and healthy working environment is a matter of choice, not chance.

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. We conduct background checks on qualified applicants before hire. This may include a conflicts of interest statement from candidates.
