Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the PI and senior lab members, perform standard laboratory procedures and provide day-to-day support for NIH-funded studies in reproductive toxicology and environmental health.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process human biological samples (urine, blood) following established protocols, including centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling, and cryogenic storage.
  • Assist with isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) under direct supervision of a postdoctoral fellow, following a step-by-step established protocol.
  • Perform routine H&E staining of tissue sections and assist with histology workspace preparation, slide labeling, and reagent replenishment following posted protocols.
  • Apply established image analysis workflows (e.g., morphometric measurements) in under supervision, using pre-configured protocols; organize image files per lab SOP.
  • Restock consumables (tips, tubes, gloves), label supplies and containers, and keep benches and shared spaces orderly.
  • Wash, rinse, and autoclave glassware and plasticware; run and record sterilization cycles per SOP.
  • Collect and stage laboratory waste (biological, chemical, and sharps) following posted procedures.
  • Perform other closely related duties as assigned that are consistent with the Research Technologist I classification.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biological, chemical, or medical sciences (such as biology, pharmacology/toxicology, microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, physiology, or medical technology), or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to follow written and verbal instructions and lab safety procedures.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate written records.
