Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Business and Finance, the Accountant Associate will perform tasks to support the Institute including finance management including financial management, financial reporting and analysis, policy issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Reconciliation of monthly financial statements.
• Maintenance of compliance documentation for operational purchases/expenditures.
• Prepare and submit Banner entries as needed.
• Assist with preparation and monitoring of contracts and sponsored awards. Assist with fund/grant accounting, budgeting, preparing sponsored-required financial reports,
• Assist with purchasing and procurement activities.
• Provide guidance to faculty and staff with issues related to accounts payable, purchasing, and travel.
• Assist in the development of materials and techniques for training faculty and staff in standard operating procedures related to accounts payable, purchasing, and travel.
• Remain up to date on related university, college, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist with equipment inventory.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience. OR
• Possession of current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA). OR
• Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior working experience in non-profit organization is preferred.
