Job description
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Software QA Manager to lead our Quality Assurance function and ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. The QA Manager will oversee both manual and automated testing teams, establish testing strategies and standards, and partner with product and engineering leaders to embed quality into every stage of the development lifecycle. This role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and hands-on expertise to drive continuous improvement in QA practices, tools, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of QA Analysts
- Define career paths and provide coaching, training, and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that prioritizes quality and accountability.
Quality Strategy & Governance
- Define and implement the QA strategy, aligning with organizational and product goals.
- Establish QA standards, processes, and metrics for manual, automated, performance, and security testing.
- Drive adoption of industry best practices across the QA organization.
- Ensure test environments, data management, and tools are optimized for efficiency.
Delivery & Execution Oversight
- Oversee end-to-end testing activities across multiple projects and releases.
- Ensure appropriate test coverage across functional, regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing.
- Partner with DevOps teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Act as an escalation point for critical testing or quality issues impacting delivery.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and Business Analysts to ensure clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Represent QA in Agile ceremonies, release planning, and governance forums.
- Provide clear reporting on testing progress, quality metrics, risks, and readiness to leadership.
- Advocate for quality across the organization by influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Risk, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and mitigate quality risks across projects, proactively addressing gaps in processes and tooling.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and industry standards as applicable.
- Lead post-release reviews to capture lessons learned and drive improvements.
Continuously assess new QA tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance efficiency and coverage.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including at least 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong expertise in QA methodologies, test strategy, and best practices across manual and automated testing.
- Hands-on experience with defect tracking, test management, and automation tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium).
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree or equivalent advanced education.
- ISTQB Advanced, CSTE, or equivalent QA certification.
- Experience with performance, security, and compliance testing.
- Background in SaaS, cloud-based, or enterprise-scale application environments.
- Proven experience scaling QA practices in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
