The Painter supports Base Support Operations by performing painting, surface preparation, finishing, and minor carpentry repairs across installation facilities. This role ensures that buildings, housing units, operational facilities, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and visually maintained. Work includes interior and exterior painting, drywall repair, surface restoration, and small‑scale carpentry tasks while following base safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, and priming.
  • Apply paints, stains, sealers, coatings, and finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, railings, structures, and other building surfaces.
  • Perform drywall and plaster repairs, including taping, mudding, texture application, and finish sanding.
  • Complete minor carpentry tasks such as repairing or installing doors, frames, baseboards, molding, paneling, cabinetry, and wooden fixtures.
  • Perform repairs to damaged surfaces caused by wear, impact, or water intrusion.
  • Mix, match, and blend paints and coatings to ensure uniform color and finish across materials and surfaces.
  • Install protective coverings and ensure proper masking, ventilation, and containment of paint work areas.
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment including sprayers, rollers, brushes, and hand tools.
  • Construct or repair small structures, partitions, supports, or simple framing as needed to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with minor demolition, material removal, and site preparation.
  • Follow base safety regulations including hazardous materials handling, PPE, confined spaces, and fall protection.
  • Maintain daily work documentation through CMMS platforms such as MAXIMO, recording labor, materials, and work order status.
  • Coordinate with other trades and facility personnel to complete multi‑discipline maintenance tasks.
  • Support emergency repair needs and mission‑critical facility operations.
  • Maintain clean and organized tools, equipment, and work vehicles.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, early and late shifts N/A
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a driver’s country of origin license.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License

Experience

  • At least two (2) years’ experience in painting, finishing, carpentry, or facility maintenance

Skills & Technology Used

  • English proficiency Reading & Speaking Level 2, Writing Level 1
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint types, and application methods
  • Basic carpentry skills including repair of wood structures, trim, and fixtures

Working Environment

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Includes some industrial production conditions as well.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about the ambient noise level.
